Dr. Martha Langley Howard, DVM

Dr. Martha is a Guntersville native, having graduated from Guntersville High School in 1999. She attended college at Mississippi State University, and graduated in 2006 as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. She opened Lake Guntersville Veterinary Services in 2014. What began as a tiny office in the back of a pet store has now grown to a state-of-the-art hospital where she always welcomes you and your pets. She has 8 dogs, 6 cats, and a variety of farm animals. In her free time, Dr. Martha enjoys spending time with her children, working on her farm, and travelling.

Office Manager/Lead Technician

Meredith G., LVT

Meredith graduated from veterinary technician school in South Alabama and has worked in the field for 6 years. She has two golden retrievers (Belle and Shelby), and a Great Pyrenees (Whitey) that help protect the family farm. She enjoys tending to her six chickens, kayaking, and hanging out with her husband. She is an amazing office manager and LGVS would not be the same without her.

Shon Howard

Shon started at LGVS in 2023. He graduated from the Culverhouse School of Business at the University of Alabama in 2008. While you may not see him when you visit us, he is in the back making sure we are equipped to give you the best pet care available.

Technician Assistant

Danyka G.

Dankya was born in California, and has lived in Alabama for the past 16 years. She has a dog (Sage), a cat (Doc B), and a bearded dragon (Auggie). She has worked with LGVS since 2021. She is also known as the "spicy tech" around the office. She is fearless and the first to jump in on angry, scaly, or otherwise unconventional patients. She can also be seen making a palette in the floor to sleep overnight with hospitalized patients who are scared to be alone.

Technician Assistant

Ella Kate S.

My name is Ella and I have worked for LGVS since my junior year of high school. I am now in college at Auburn University pursuing an Animal Science degree in hopes of going to vet school. I started off as a volunteer, then doing small tasks like cleaning and laundry, and finally was fortunate enough to be trained by the best to be a vet tech assistant. Everyone who knows me knows how much I truly love this job. I don't know who I would be if I wasn't graced with such an amazing opportunity and mentors. Dr. Martha and the staff at LGVS have been one of the biggest blessings in my life.

Paula N.

Paula has worked with LGVS since 2023, with many years of experience in reception beforehand. She lives at home with her husband of 43 years, and has 2 daughters and 4 grandchildren who are her world. She enjoys gardening, especially flowers, and taking care of the wildlife around her home.

Receptionist

Paige S.

My name is Paige. I am a mother of four children and two fur babies (Roscoe and Malik). I have been working in the veterinary field since 2017, and recently enrolled in school to become a licensed veterinary technician. I was always told growing up that if you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life, and that is exactly how I feel each day I come to work. Not only do I enjoy getting to care for the animals in our community, but I also enjoy the relationships we build with each client that walks through our door.

Door Greeter

Lovie

Lovie was one of Dr. Martha's first patients at LGVS and has stuck around ever since. You will often see her snoozing on a blanket at the front desk, but she sometimes pops up to say hello! While she serves as a full-time door greeter, she is semi-retired and takes it slow. Her hobbies include sitting in the window, napping in Paula's chair, and rubbing her face on our computers.

Door Greeter

Bubby

Bubby is a testament to the unwanted. Left in a barn and surrendered as a "feral" cat, we quickly learned there was nothing feral about this little guy. He quickly stole our hearts and landed his forever home right here at LGVS. He will assuredly greet you at the door, likely begging for a treat. While he is convincing, he is on a diet!

Mascot

Roscoe

Roscoe came to us in a critical state. After countless hours of round-the-clock care and a life-saving surgery, he holds a special place in our hearts at LGVS. While he now has a loving home, he visits often and you may see him around the office!
